We are in the process of redoing the 2nd green. There was a problem with the old green  not holding any water, so we have dug it up and redoing it.  There is a temporary green in play at present.

HANDICAP SYSTEM:

The next stage of the new handicap system has come in, with all players losing handicap.  Players please make sure you check you handicap each time you play.

Golf Australia have been holding forums and surveys, over the past few months to discuss the new handicap system.  From these they have come to the conclusion that the adoption of the USGA Handicap System in its intirety would not be in the best interest of Australian golf.  Golf Australia then went ahead and analysed every competition over the past 3 years from 15 different and diverse clubs across the country, with the aim of finding a satisfactory method. From this Golf Australia have made four proirity amendments to the Handicap System, and they  are as follows:

1. Alter "Best 10 of 20" to  Best of 8 of 20

2.  Change the Bönus for excellence multiplier from 0.96 to 0.93

3  Introduce an anchor which will prevent a player's handicap from increasing any more than 4 strokes beyond their exact handicap from the previous 12 month rolling period.

4.  Golf link will cap the score that goes into a players handicap record at no more then the following amount over the course rating.   - 50 for women and 40 for men.

These 4 priority amendments will come into effect on Wednesday 21st September 2011.

More detailed information and regular updates are provided on the GA website on www.golfaustralia.org.au

The driving range is up and running and now full after the record amount of rain we have had this month, and it looks fantastic. This is the view from the 6th and 15th tees tee, which goes over the dam.

The driving range is now open and going well.  We have floating balls now and a little water in the dam.   The cost of the balls is $10 for members and $12 for non members, for around 50 balls.  You can use all clubs on the range.

COURSE IMPROVMENTS

I will do another update when i get out for another look at the course and see what they have done.

The tees now have all new tee signs on them.  We still have a couple of holes available for sponsorship next year.  If you are interested please give me a ring and I can send you all the information.

Ross has cleared around the edge of the driving range on the left hand side, as well as alsong the cart path on the 6th.  Both areas are now ready for turf, with some turf already laid along the 9th.

The work continues on the course, with the new tees now in play on the 5th and tree planting taking place around that tee.   There has been more turf planted on the mound near No. 1 tee, as well as work done to No 2 tee.

We have topdressed part of No. 8 and No. 4 fairway so hopfully the grass will be through those areas before the wet season.

Top dressing on No. 4 Fairway.           Top dressing on the 8th fairway            New bridge to 7th tee

Ross is also doing a cart path behind the 6th mens green, which will hopefully before the wet as well. There is also a new bridge to the 7th tee, that is being installed.
